Holiday in the first trimester

What a lovely break, just what we needed! I should never have worried about going away whilst only 7 weeks pregnant as it did me the world of good just to be able to relax and not get up at 6.30am each morning and drive to work was amazing!

The tiredness really kicked in this week and I found myself having the odd occasional afternoon nap which is not like me. Other new symptoms that have cropped up are bloating and going off food, especially in the evening which is such a shame as there are so many lovely restaurants out here.

I have found that when I wake up in the morning my stomach is flat but by the evening it can look really bloated like I am already 5 months pregnant! I have also been quite a bit thirstier so have been drinking lots of water.

Along with folic acid, I am trying to make sure I get lots of goodness each day by eating plenty of fruit and vegetables. I have gone off meat which is a little annoying but have alternatives to still make sure I am getting enough protein, eggs are a good source too so omelettes (well cooked) are back on the menu in our house hold!

Flying was no problem, we only flew 4 hours so it wasn’t a long way! I would really recommend taking a break somewhere if you can in the first trimester and it is so important to get the rest you need and it really did make me feel so much better.
