What do you get a child for their first birthday? Answer – I have no idea, they usually have everything they need! This was indeed true for Ruby so after seeing a very thoughtful post on Facebook, I decided to ask members of our family and her godparents for a letter that she could open on her 18th birthday.
Since having Ruby my ‘me time’ has somewhat dwindled, I have found Beauty Boxes to be a welcome monthly surprise full of new products to try.
So far I have tried 3 different beauty box brands – Glossybox, Birchbox and most recently, Look Fantastic. They are all around the same sort of price (£12-15) once you factor in P&P and they get delivered around the start of each month.
Probably the hardest thing I have had to do so far. My maternity leave is coming to the end and I now need to find a replacement me for 3 days a week.
These days there are so many gadgets available on the market and when you have not done this before, it is hard to know what you actually need and what you can do without.
I have complied my top ten baby must haves, they will not all apply to everyone however I thought it would be useful to share what we found worked best for us.
I have no idea where the last week has gone, it is all a bit of a blur! I think I have had around 12 hours sleep but I would not change it for the world.
So my birthing story…
Our beautiful baby girl was born this morning two weeks and one day early at 10.37am weighing in at 7lb. She came for Christmas! We are very much in love and I will post my birthing story shortly.
This weekend certainly has been a busy one! Today we went down to our local birthing centre for a tour. Luckily it was pretty empty so we were able to get a good feel for the place and see the all important room where the water births happen! I could not believe just how big the rooms were, a complete different experience to the tour we did on the labour ward that’s for sure.
We had our antenatal class today, a little later than planned due to our previous class being cancelled so out of everyone I was one of the most pregnant. The class covered a variety of different things including pain relief, birthing options, signs of labour and a little on what to do when the baby arrives.
We have now reached 36 weeks! My midwife is currently on holiday so I saw a different one today who was lovely. We spoke about my birth plan and my wish for a water birth. As long as I go over 37 weeks and continue to have a pregnancy without complications hopefully this will be possible. I also want to try and give birth with only gas and air, however I can sit here and say this now, it might be a different story when it comes round to giving birth!
Our baby is also now fully engaged so even though my midwife says most first babies are late I’m keeping my fingers crossed she comes in time for Christmas.
