Being only 14 weeks I do not really have a visible bump yet although I have noticed a lot of my clothes are getting rather tight and quite a few work items are now no good. I have also got bloating towards the end of the day for quite a few weeks now so leggings have become my favourite.
I decided to use this as a good opportunity to go through my wardrobe and have a good clear out! All my smart work clothes that are now uncomfortable, I have packed away in vacuum packs as I will be going back to work after my maternity leave and would rather not buy a whole new work wardrobe after the baby is born!
I also put away my more skinnier summer clothes as I am determined to fit back into them by next summer…I’m hoping this will be some sort of motivation!
I then managed to fill a large sack to take to the charity shop (after my sister has been for a rummage) which made me realise just how much I had in my wardrobe that I no longer wear… I even found a few items still with the tags on… oppsy.
My New Year’s Resolution (once the baby is here) will be to purchase little and often and clothes of better quality rather than being drawn in by sale signs and filling my wardrobe with things I do not actually need.
Everyone has told me I will be large at the right time – in winter when I can get away with legging and jumpers – rather than the summer where pregnant ladies appear hot and uncomfortable no matter what they wear!
For now I am on the lookout for some maternity clothes for work, eBay seems to be the place to look with great items and good brands going for a few pounds each.
The day has finally come and we are both really excited to see our baby again. This time the scan is at our local hospital rather than the EPU and we are first to be seen.
With another really full bladder we patiently waited for all the systems to be set up before we were called in, I was not as nervous this time as I was last time, I would say I was more relaxed and excited!
The sonographer was lovely and went through with us all the checks that she was going to do. As soon as she started, we could see the baby on the screen as iit looked again like in had grown so much in just over a week. It was not moving as much this time as it looked like it was fast asleep, the sonographer did all the measurements she could in this position and then asked me to jump up and down to encourage the baby to move so she could get the NT measurement.
After several times, she managed to get all the measurements she needed. The NT measured 1.4mm and CRL 59.9mm so she is not concerned. We were able to see the babies bladder and brain and well as all the limbs which was incredible. The scan was so clear, we could even see the baby rubbing it’s face!
The scan put me a little forward in terms of dates at 12 weeks and 3 days, now due on New Years Day 2016! Off to have a blood test now as the other part of the 12 week screening.
Counting down the days until we get to see our little bean again!
I cannot explain the tiredness that I am feeling right now! I am usually pretty good at getting up but the past week has been a struggle.
My husband purchased a nutribullet and even though we thought it might be one of those things we would never use it has been amazing! Each morning we chuck in some fruit (banana, apple, kiwi, grapes, blueberries etc.), spinach and a pro-biotic drink and blend it up. This has given me so much more energy for the drive to work, would really recommend getting some sort of blender and starting your day with a shake if you are feeling lethargic.
Some of my friends have said they would never have the time to make one but it takes 60 seconds! It also means you are getting important vitamins for your pregnancy in one hit and you no longer have to worry about eating them all throughout the day. I have been told my people to take the pregnancy vitamins but the multi ones are HUGE and for someone that is rubbish at taking tablets, the shakes make a great tasty alternative.
I had my next scan today to check up on my cyst. I have had a bit of pain but not as much as I had before so I am very hopeful that it has shrunk.
I was especially nervous again today before the scan, being this early, you have no real physical pregnancy symptoms so until you see the little heart beating away on the screen, it is hard to really know what to think!
There was a bit of a wait today, not good when you have a full bladder, you could see everyone in the waiting room trying not to think about their full bladders!
Finally I got called in and the distraction of what I could see on the screen took the feeling of desperately going to the toilet away. At this scan you could very clearly make out the embryo, it now was beginning to take the form of a foetus and must of been about 6 times or so bigger than when we saw it at 5 weeks and 6 days.
The cyst was still there but has slowly started to shrink which is good news, the EPU nurse said it was now fine to wait for the 12 week scan.
Only 3 or so more weeks to go until we get to see our baby again!
We are due to fly to Fuerteventura on Saturday for a weeks holiday, obviously booked before I found out I was pregnant. Even though I cannot wait for a week in the sun, I am slightly worried about going away at this time during the pregnancy. The doctor said it’s fine and the only reason they suggest not travelling in the first trimester is due to sickness!
Luckily so far I have not had any sickness, only a little nausea late at night. I do however have one new symptom…Stretching pain!
It is the strangest feeling, nothing like period pain but more like something is stretching my stomach from the inside and this happens more often when I am going to bed than any other time.
I am also super tired but only a few days of work left until I can finally relax!
After my positive pregnancy test on Friday I just wanted to make sure my eyes were not deceiving me so I purchased some cheap Morrisons own tests. The line was very faint on both tests I took a day apart but it was definitely there, I may take another one next week!
The oddest thing since taking that positive test is that I do not feel any different, I have no pregnancy signs or symptoms so I think that by taking a test every so often it is quite reassuring!
Today we found out that we are expecting our first child and we are both over the moon. I took a clear blue test early this morning and could not believe it when it flashed up pregnant!
After coming off the pill around 8 months ago, we are so pleased that this happened naturally. I have worked out that I am only around 4 weeks pregnant so we have a way to go before it’s confirmed but for now we will enjoy keeping this secret just between the two of us.
