This weekend certainly has been a busy one! Today we went down to our local birthing centre for a tour. Luckily it was pretty empty so we were able to get a good feel for the place and see the all important room where the water births happen! I could not believe just how big the rooms were, a complete different experience to the tour we did on the labour ward that’s for sure.
After having my flu jab a few weeks ago, I was hoping to avoid getting poorly however I appear to have come down with a really really nasty cold. The timing is especially bad as it is our first wedding anniversary this weekend and we had lots of plans!
Now I am officially on maternity leave, I feel that I should probably get my hospital bag packed. After reading different peoples lists, I have narrowed mine down a little as some of the lists were so extensive you would need a good couple of suitcases to fit everything in!
We have 3 bags, one for me, one for Chris and one for the baby!
So in my bag I have decided to pack:
- Birth plan/notes
- Loose fitting PJs
- Dressing gown and slippers
- Change of clothes
- A pack of big knickers from Primark!
- A large pack of maternity pads
- Toiletries – toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, face wipes, lip balm and a hair brush
- Still Lucosade and a few sugary snacks
- Nursing bra
- Camera and charger
- Money for car park
- Comfortable clothes
- 4 baby sleepsuits
- Nappies x 10 (size 1)
- Scratch mitts
- Going home outfit
- Cotton wool balls
- Muslin squares
It does seem like a lot but compared to some of the lists I have seen it’s actually quite minimal.
Everything has suddenly started to feel very real now.
5 weeks to go!
Finally in my third trimester, the end is in sight! I am now 28 weeks and still feel pretty good, I am still exercising regularly and do not feel too uncomfortable yet.
My midwife has said the baby is now head down so hopefully now will stay that way until the birth but we will see. The kicks have got a lot more intense and I am needing to go to the loo even more which I did not think was possible!
12 weeks to go!!
